Academic and Professional Background

Soujanya Poria is a distinguished researcher and academic in the field of Computer Science, specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP)Sentiment Analysis, and Multimodal AI. He completed his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Stirling, UK, where his research focused on understanding sentiment in multimodal data.

Prior to his PhD, he earned his Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Computer Science from Jadavpur University, India, in 2013. During his undergraduate studies, he was honored with the Best Undergraduate Thesis Award and the Researcher Award from Jadavpur University, along with a Gold-Plated Silver Medal from the university and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for his final year project.

Currently, Soujanya serves as a Research Fellow at NTU Temasek Laboratories, where he leads cutting-edge research on aspect-based sentiment analysis across multiple domains and modalities. His work has garnered significant recognition, with over 1,449 citations on Google Scholar and an h-index of 22. According to a recent article in Information Processing & Management, he is ranked among the top 25 most productive authors in Sentiment Analysis since 2000.
